Much of my work is labor intensive and mentally and spiritually challenging.  I'm finding out that in between projects, and sometimes during projects, I need to sew a little something that will relax me and lessen the intensity of the present creative atmosphere.  Patchwork quilts like the two examples below seem to do the trick.

Sitting quietly, cutting squares, rectangles and fan shapes while listening to the latest Harry Potter installment, gives my mind a chance to rest minus more lofty subjects zooming and crash banging around in my head.  This quilt I recreated while listening to
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Grandma's Fan is a variation of a quilt from Eileen Westfall's book, Basic Beauties.  This book was very helpful to me when I was teaching myself the how-to's of quilting.  I recommend it highly to quilters just starting out.
