The people who risked their lives to escape oppression are American heroes.  This piece,
Shh!, is a testament to their bravery and uncompromising pursuit of freedom, even under
the threat of death.  But imagine the fear, the dark nights and uncertainty.  Because the
runners were being aggressively pursued by slave owners and hired slave catchers, my
overwhelming thought when creating this piece was understanding their need to be quiet,
"Shh!"
